Encantado or mucho gusto

When you first meet someone, you can either say ¡Mucho gusto! or ¡Encantado!. With the latter it's important to take into account whether you're meeting a male or a female though, because if you're meeting a female you would change the ending to a: ¡Encantada!

There is a clear advantage to using mucho gusto instead of encantado/a: you don't have to think about the gender of the person you're meeting, so it's a little bit easier for beginner-speakers.
