Introduction in Manx (Gaelg)
The polite way to ask if someone wants something in Manx is with the construction “By vie lhiat …?” – literally: “Would … be good with you?”. In practice, it means: “Would you like …?”
The answer follows the same pattern: “By vie lhiam …” – “I would like …” (it would be good with me).
When making a request, you can also add “my sailt”, which means please (literally: if it pleases you).
