Present tense conjugation of stare (to be in a state)

In Italian, essere (to be) and stare (to stay/be) are used differently:

  • Essere is used to indicate the state of being or identity, such as in the phrase io sono qui (I am here), which indicates the presence of someone in a specific place.

  • Stare is used to indicate how someone is feeling or their condition, and also for continuous actions, such as sto bene (I am well) or sto lavorando (I am working).
